About NameserverHistory
Built to make DNS history visible at scale.
NameserverHistory was created because DNS is one of the most critical layers of the internet, yet historical visibility into nameserver behavior has always been limited. Most tools can show the current state. Very few can help you understand what happened yesterday, last week, or over a longer period of time.
We built NameserverHistory to close that gap — with a platform focused on historical DNS visibility, nameserver health monitoring, and long-term infrastructure insight.

Why we started
We started NameserverHistory because we saw a clear need in the DNS ecosystem. Engineers, infrastructure teams, hosting providers, and researchers often need more than a snapshot. They need to know whether a nameserver issue is new, recurring, temporary, or part of a longer trend.
That kind of understanding requires historical data, continuous measurement, and a system designed to preserve meaningful signal over time.
How it began
What began as a technical initiative to collect and analyze DNS health data evolved into a much larger platform. The original goal was simple: continuously measure nameserver behavior, store the data reliably, and make it searchable in a meaningful way.
As the dataset grew, so did the ambition. NameserverHistory became a dedicated platform for exploring uptime patterns, reliability shifts, and long-term DNS behavior at scale.
What we do today
Today, NameserverHistory processes around 150 million DNS checks per day, continuously collecting and analyzing DNS health signals across a large and growing dataset.
Our focus is not only on collecting data, but on making it useful. We want to help teams move from isolated checks to historical understanding — from “what is happening right now?” to “what has been happening over time?”
Whether you are troubleshooting DNS issues, evaluating infrastructure reliability, monitoring nameserver performance, or researching the global DNS ecosystem, NameserverHistory is built to provide deeper context, not just a single snapshot.
Historical DNS Visibility
Explore nameserver uptime, health patterns, and long-term behavior with historical context.
Monitoring at Scale
Built to process high-volume DNS observations efficiently and reliably every day.
Actionable Insight
Designed for engineers, operators, researchers, and teams who need more than the current state.
Our mission
Our mission is simple: to make nameserver history easier to explore, monitor, and understand. We believe DNS infrastructure should be measurable, transparent, and accessible — especially over time.
Frequently asked questions
What is NameserverHistory?
NameserverHistory is a platform focused on historical DNS visibility, nameserver health tracking, and long-term infrastructure insight.
Why was NameserverHistory created?
It was created because most DNS tools focus on the current state, while engineers often need historical context to understand reliability, outages, and recurring operational patterns.
Who is it built for?
It is built for engineers, infrastructure teams, hosting providers, researchers, and anyone who needs deeper visibility into DNS behavior over time.
